Arattupuzha Tharakkal Pooram is celebrated the day before the main pooram, on this day Sasthavu comes out with a procession of 9 elephants accompanied by pandi melam. Also Thottippal Bhagavathy with 3 elephants and pancha vadyam and Oorakathamma also with 3 elephants will be present.
Peruvanam Mahadeva Temple is located in Cherpu around 10km south of Thrissur town, on the way to Thriprayar. Here the pooram is famous for its melams – The Pandi and Panchari melams played here are superb and the Peruvanam Nadavazhi is constructed in such a manner that it forms a natural theater for the percussion performances. The festival used to have participation from 108 temples, but currently Ezhunnallippu is from about 23 temples only. These pictures below were shot on 19th March 2016.
